Kuršėnai is the largest town in Šiauliai region.The town is located on the river Venta on the crossroad Šiauliai - Palanga - Mažeikiai. Kuršėnai has got two railwa
y stations. Trains go from Šiauliai to Klaipėda and from Šiauliai to Mažeikiai.
The statue to L. Ivinskis was built in the middle of the town in 1960 (the architect S. Ramunis, the sculptor P. Aleksandravičius). Also, a calendar museum is situated in Kuršėnai Culture House. A yearly Laurynas Ivinskis premium is presented to the creator of the greatest calendar of the year throughout the formal procedure of the remembrance in addition to encourage immature calendar maters.
